Loomba Foundation donates 100 sewing machines to widows

The Loomba Foundation based in London which works towards empowering the widows have decided to donate 100 sewing machines to the widows of the Sarvam villages. Widows who do not have any financial backing would be helped through this program. They would be given training in garment making for two months. On successful completion of the training, each of them would be given a sewing machine.

Speaking on the donation Lord Raj Loomba, CBE, Founder & Chairman Trustee, The Loomba Foundation said “It has been an endeavour of The Loomba Foundation to empower the widows, a lot truly marginalised, invisible and forgotten, and also ostracized by society, all over the world with special emphasis in India. Loomba Foundation’s ‘Socio-Economic Empowerment of Widows project’ is a step forward to promote its mission of empowering the widows economically and also to bring them into mainstream of national life by removing all forms of social alienation they are subjected to. Amongst various projects we have launched, the Sarvam Project we are doing in partnership with Shri Aurobindo Society finds a place of pride. It’s really an honour to be a partner with Sri Aurobindo Society. I convey my best wishes for the success of this project”.
