On 2 July 2024, a workshop on animal husbandry was organised for seventy-five female entrepreneurs who own cattle, in collaboration with CPCL at the Satyam Community Centre. SARVAM regularly conducts various skill training programs to support women’s livelihood sustainability, and this workshop was part of that initiative.
The workshop aimed to provide participants with essential knowledge and skills to improve the care, productivity, and profitability of their cattle. Topics covered included cattle nutrition and feeding, breeding and reproduction, disease prevention and treatment, and best practices for herd management.
A veterinarian provided an overview of programmes available to protect cattle from diseases and natural disasters, shared preventative measures to keep livestock healthy, and offered innovative ideas to boost income from cattle rearing. Practical demonstrations using a cow helped enhance understanding of these concepts.
The women entrepreneurs expressed happiness and satisfaction with the workshop, noting that they gained valuable insights and techniques. They pledged to disseminate the information to other community members and requested more such workshops in the future, highlighting the positive impact on their livestock and agricultural productivity.
