On 22 July 2026, SARVAM organised a Soft Skills Capacity Building Programme at the Satyam Community Centre, bringing together 90 women from 15 villages. The programme was designed to strengthen the personal and professional competencies of rural women by equipping them with essential life skills that foster confidence, leadership and active participation in their families and communities.
The training was conducted by three experienced facilitators, each with extensive expertise in adult learning, leadership development and community empowerment. To ensure meaningful participation and personalised learning, the participants were divided into three batches, allowing for greater interaction, practical engagement and individual attention throughout the sessions.

The programme focused on five key areas of soft skills development that are fundamental to personal growth, employability and community leadership. Participants learnt the importance of emotional intelligence, enabling them to understand and manage their emotions, cope effectively with stress and build healthy interpersonal relationships. Sessions on time management and prioritisation provided practical strategies for balancing family responsibilities, work and personal development through effective planning. The training also emphasised problem-solving and critical thinking, encouraging participants to analyse challenges, think independently and develop practical solutions for everyday situations.
Interactive activities on teamwork and collaboration promoted cooperation, mutual support and collective learning, helping participants strengthen their relationships within their communities. In addition, sessions on interpersonal skills and networking enhanced participants’ communication abilities, relationship-building skills and self-confidence, enabling them to expand both their professional and social networks.

The programme adopted a highly participatory approach, combining interactive discussions, group exercises, role plays, case studies and experiential learning activities. This methodology ensured active engagement and encouraged participants to apply the concepts to real-life situations. The women responded enthusiastically, expressing increased confidence, improved communication skills and a greater willingness to apply their learning in their families, workplaces and communities.
Overall, the initiative successfully enhanced the soft skills of rural women, empowering them with the confidence, leadership qualities and practical competencies needed to participate more actively in community development and livelihood opportunities. The programme reinforced SARVAM’s commitment to building resilient, capable and self-reliant rural communities through holistic capacity-building initiatives.
