SARVAM, the rural development wing of Sri Aurobindo Society in association with the U.S. Consulate has been conducting two-year English Access Micro Scholarship Program for the past few years. The fourth batch of English Access Microscholarship Program successfully commenced on Nov 9, 2020 at the Satyam Community Centre, Poothurai. More than 110 students were selected to be a part of this program which is fully funded by the U.S. Consulate Chennai and supported by RELO, New Delhi.
The successfully completion of the previous 3 batches by SARVAM made it very easy to get the approval for the fourth batch. After the diligent preliminary selection process, the classes for the fourth batch started on Nov 9, 2020. The students are divided into 4 different batches and are rigorously trained by 6 Access Teachers who are very well experienced and skilled in teaching the English Language.
Pre Diagnostic tests in listening, speaking, reading, and writingwere conducted to all the students to understand their level of knowledge of the English language. This helped the teachers to plan accordingly. At present, in-Person classes are conducted in the villages while abiding the Government laid norms. Students were asked to maintain social distancing and their temperature was checked every day with the thermal scanning device. Students were also given face masks and sanitizers to avoid the spread of the virus.
The initial classes will follow the method of Learn while you play, and this has encouraged enthusiastic participation from all the students of the fourth batch of the English Access Micro Scholarship Program. Even during this pandemic and lockdown, full attendance could be witnessed for these classes.
We believe, like the previous batches, this fourth batch will also be a great success and help enhance our cordial relationship with the US Consulate, Chennai and RELO, New Delhi.
