Date: 30-Jul-2024

Location: Satyam Community Centre

On 30 July 2024, SARVAM organised the initial session of its Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme on integral yoga at the Satyam Community Centre, Puducherry, with the assistance of AuroYajna. This session aimed to train 25 village volunteers to teach yoga within their community, focusing on integral yoga practices such as pranayama, meditation, and basic yoga poses to alleviate daily stress.

The first class, led by the experienced director of AuroYajna, introduced various breathing techniques. The instructor explained the benefits of deep breathing, such as activating the parasympathetic nervous system to promote calmness, increasing oxygen supply to the brain to enhance cognitive function and focus, and lowering blood pressure by reducing cortisol levels. These techniques help relieve stress, improve mental health, and enhance the overall well-being.

Participants found the session revitalising and committed to incorporating the practices into their daily routines. The interactive and engaging nature of the initial session set high expectations for future classes. The trainer not only inspired the volunteers but also stressed the importance of integrating these breathing exercises into everyday life.

The session received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Participants noted benefits like reduced stress and increased flexibility, appreciating the break from their hectic schedules. They expressed a strong desire for more frequent sessions, highlighting the impactful and practical nature of the training. Following the success of this initial session, it was decided to continue the yoga classes, leveraging the expertise of AuroYajna to foster health and well-being in the community.
