Access Virtual Site Visit and Interaction with American Diplomat Mr. Moulik D. Berkana- Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Chennai was conducted virtually on 23rd December 2020. The programme was attended by Ms. Rachna Sharma-Access Program Specialist, Regional English Language Office, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi, Ms. Brindha Balachandran – Education and English Language Coordinator, U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, Dr. Padma Ravindran- Master Trainer, Access Teachers, 4 Alumni Students, Access Coordinators and the present batch of 100 students. All the participants joined the meeting through Google Meet online platform.
English Access Microscholarship Program is one of the special programme which is being implemented by SARVAM in the project villages. Three batches of Access Program have been completed successfully and so far more than 325 students have been graduated.
The Virtual Site Visit started with the invocation song and Tamilthai Vaazthu. Mr. K. SenthilKumar, Access Program Coordinator, SARVAM, Sri Aurobindo Society welcomed the gathering and also gave a brief introduction about the impact created by Access program in the villages.
The four alumni students of the Access Program shared their success stories and also they spoke how much they have achieved because of Access Program. Next some of the 4th batch of Access students shared their experiences of attending Access classes. Mr. Moulik and other participants congratulated all the students who spoke and wished them all success for a bright and better future.
Mr. Moulik D Berkana was then invited to provide his Presidential Speech. He spoke on the importance of English speaking and also gave useful tips for the students to learn to speak in English. After his speech, Mr. Moulik interacted with the Access students.
Then, Mr. John Kennedy started taking his class which was observed by all the dignitaries. Mr. Moulik congratulated all the organizers of the programme and Mr. John Kennedy for handling class in a systematic manner. The programme came to an end with a positive note and it was great experience to all the students since it is monitoring programme in online. They enjoyed a lot and learnt more aspects from Mr. Moulik.
