Location: Satyam Community Centre
On 23rd April 2025, SARVAM organised a creative learning session titled “Photography in Our Daily Life” for volunteers at the Satyam Community Centre, Puducherry. This workshop served as a follow-up to a previous session on mobile photography, aiming to deepen participants’ skills and enhance their understanding of how photography can be used meaningfully in everyday life.
The session brought together a group of enthusiastic volunteers keen to explore the practical and artistic aspects of capturing daily moments. It built upon foundational concepts and introduced more nuanced techniques related to composition, lighting, framing, and visual perspective. The facilitator highlighted how photography can be a powerful medium for storytelling,
documentation, and emotional expression, particularly in the context of community engagement and personal reflection.
Volunteers were encouraged to use their mobile phones more creatively, learning how to transform ordinary scenes into compelling images. The workshop featured interactive elements such as live demonstrations, peer review, and hands-on practice. These activities enabled participants to apply their learning in real-time and receive constructive feedback, which helped them improve their skills and gain confidence in their creative expression.
The session also placed significant emphasis on intentionality—urging participants to think about the story or emotion behind each photograph. This approach not only enhanced technical skills but also encouraged a mindful engagement with one’s surroundings.
The workshop was well received, with participants expressing their appreciation for both the content and delivery. They found the session informative, inspiring, and immediately applicable to their daily lives and community projects. SARVAM’s initiative continues to empower its volunteers by equipping them with practical tools that enrich their experiences and amplify the impact of their social efforts through visual storytelling.
