A comprehensive medical camp was successfully conducted on 27 February 2026 at Vazhapattam Palayam Village under SARVAM’s FHAP Programme 2026. The camp was organised in coordination with the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), along with its Mobile Medical Unit, Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OG) team, and Ophthalmology team. The initiative aimed to provide inclusive and accessible healthcare services to both men and women in the community, strengthening preventive healthcare outreach at the grassroots level.

The camp primarily focused on preventive screening and early detection of common non-communicable diseases. Participants were screened for diabetes, hypertension and anaemia to identify individuals at potential risk and to offer timely medical guidance and referrals wherever required. By emphasising routine health check-ups, the programme sought to reduce the long-term complications associated with untreated conditions and promote a culture of proactive health management.

Specialised services formed an integral part of the camp. The Ophthalmology team conducted cataract screenings to identify beneficiaries requiring further evaluation or possible surgical intervention. Simultaneously, the Obstetrics & Gynaecology team provided exclusive screening for women, focusing on cervical cancer detection and addressing other gynaecological concerns with sensitivity and care. This targeted approach ensured that women received dedicated attention to their specific health needs.

Approximately 100 community members benefited from the medical camp. In addition to diagnostic services, the JIPMER medical team conducted awareness sessions on disease prevention, hygiene, nutrition and the importance of regular medical follow-up. The initiative not only delivered essential healthcare services but also strengthened health awareness within the community, marking a meaningful step towards sustainable and preventive healthcare practices.
