To mark International Yoga Day, a special yoga awareness and practice programme was organised on 13 June 2026 at the Satyam Community Centre by SARVAM. The session brought together 100 children below the age of 13, with the goal of introducing them to the importance of yoga and instilling healthy lifestyle habits from an early age.

The programme began with an engaging talk by Dr. Meena Ramanathan, Principal, School of Yoga Therapy, ISCM, who explained the concept of yoga in a simple, age-appropriate manner. She highlighted its benefits for physical health, mental well-being, concentration, and overall growth, capturing the children’s attention and curiosity from the outset.

This was followed by a practical yoga demonstration conducted by Dr. Nirmala, during which the children enthusiastically practised simple postures and breathing exercises. The hands-on, interactive format made learning enjoyable and helped the young participants grasp the basics of yoga through direct experience.

A lively question-and-answer session followed, where students asked questions and shared their thoughts freely. The trainers addressed their queries with patience and encouraged them to make yoga a part of their daily routine, further reinforcing the day’s learnings.

The overall response from the children was extremely positive — they expressed happiness, excitement, and a strong desire to take part in similar sessions in the future. The trainers and organisers were equally encouraged by the enthusiasm and active participation shown throughout the programme.

In essence, the session successfully created awareness about the importance of yoga among young minds and inspired them to embrace healthier habits, with both students and facilitators keen to continue such initiatives regularly.
